The three-way catalytic converter is a device similar to the shape of a long kettle, installed in the first section of the exhaust main of the car, installed in the position between the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe of the vehicle, also commonly known as the "exhaust head section". The head section of the three-way catalytic converter is directly connected to the engine, the middle section is fixed on the chassis, and the tail section is the part near the rear bumper, which is included in the exhaust system of the car, which is a very important external purification device in the exhaust system, which is very important for the car and environmental protection.
There are two oxygen sensors in front and behind the three-way catalytic converter, in front of the three-way catalytic converter is called the front oxygen sensor, behind the three-way catalytic converter is called the rear oxygen sensor, the front oxygen sensor is mainly used to detect the oxygen content in the exhaust gas, and then feedback the data to the ECU, ECU can adjust the air-fuel ratio of the engine according to this data, the air-fuel ratio is a vital data for the engine of the car, In order to accurately control the actual air-fuel ratio at about 14.7:1 (experiments have proved that the input signal of the oxygen sensor will change abruptly around the theoretical air-fuel ratio of 14.7:1), the air-fuel ratio feedback control mode composed of oxygen sensors is widely used in the engine electronic control system, that is, closed-loop control. The post-oxygen catalytic converter is mainly to detect whether the three-way catalytic converter fails, if the data fed back to the ECU by the front oxygen sensor and the rear oxygen sensor is similar, then it means that the three-way catalytic converter has failed and needs to be replaced immediately, otherwise it will affect the normal operation of the car engine.
